Cardio Health Management
Helping You Manage Your Cardiovascular Health
Approximately 2.4 million Canadians aged 20 years and older live with ischemic heart disease and it is the second leading cause of death in Canada. Ischemic heart disease is a condition where blood flow to the heart is restricted due to narrowed heart arteries. Further narrowing of the arteries can ultimately lead to chest pain (angina) and heart attacks. An unhealthy heart and arteries can also lead to conditions such as stroke and heart failure. Fortunately, there are many ways that medications and a healthy lifestyle can help keep your heart healthy.
During a Cardiovascular Health Management consultation, the pharmacist will:
- Review your risk factors for heart disease and provide advice on how to minimize them
- Assess whether your blood pressure and cholesterol levels are optimal
- Assess whether you are taking the most appropriate medications to keep your heart healthy
- Review your drug regimen for potential interactions
- Address all questions and concerns you have regarding your drug therapy and heart health
- Communicate with other health care providers (if needed, and with your consent)
