When Kelti started working for NTS in 2010, after many years in front-line hospital pharmacist practice, she was initially concerned she would feel isolated and be unchallenged. Instead, she soon realized that she able to utilize all of her valuable, previously acquired skills, in this unusual role. She relied on her experiences with Drug Utilization and Evaluation, Antimicrobial Stewardship, neurology, geriatrics and teaching SPEP students, to be successful as a telepharmacist. NTS allows the opportunity for growth, and Kelti was able to take on lead roles at Telepharmacy hospital sites, and NTS programs such as On Call for hospitals after hours. Kelti grew, thrived, and provided the same standard of care remotely, as she did as an onsite hospital pharmacist.
Kelti transitioned to Hospital Professional Services Manager in 2014, supervising the telepharmacists, as they grew to a team of over 100 in size. In this role, Kelti hired staff, mentored new and existing pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, ensured client sites were fully satisfied with all services provided. She identified, and grew educational opportunities, developed policies and procedures, and assisted in many quality improvement initiatives.
Kelti transitioned to Senior Manager, Hospital Operations in 2020, overseeing the daily operations of NTS, ensuring that the business is well coordinated and productive. She supervises and coaches the Regional Field Leads, and continues to ensure NTS’ conformity to standards set out by OCP, NAPRA and the federal and provincial privacy regulatory laws, expectations and mandates. Kelti makes sure that client sites are receiving the highest standard of quality work, as set out in our service agreements.
NTS provides hospital pharmacists with a rewarding career, and allows opportunities for growth and leadership. Working at NTS, pharmacists utilize their full skillset and potential, and share with each other and learn from one another as a team. It is rewarding to achieve our mission: To be the leading comprehensive pharmacy services provider to Canadians and health care related institutions in under-served markets and times, utilizing innovative technologies.
