Telepharmacy care for hospital patients has been a very exciting development in Canada since its inception in 2004. Starting with one hospital and several fly in Native communities on the shores of James Bay, North West Telepharmacy Solutions now services over 40 hospitals in Ontario, Saskatchewan and the Yukon Territory. Hospitals and Patients in any part of Canada, no matter how remote or how underserviced, can be serviced and benefit from a pharmacist’s care and unique knowledge.

Our hospital trained pharmacists have unique knowledge and experience that contributes to an institutions medication safety initiatives at any time of day or night. Patients don’t always get sick between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm, and medication errors don’t only occur during these times either. A pharmacist’s involvement in patient’s hospital care should be available and utilized 24 hours a day.

North West Telepharmacy Solutions continues to evolve and provide pharmacist services that are needed by Hospitals. Our core solution is providing pharmacist services for order review, Pharmacy & Therapeutics participation and initiatives, and promotion of medication safety across an organization. We also provide an on-call solution for hospitals to meet Accreditation Canada standards for 24 hour access to pharmacy care, a paperless medication order management (MOM) solution, pharmacist professional care to primary care Family Health Teams, INR monitoring programs for inpatients and outpatients, and a new medication reconciliation program – 24 hours a day.
